Toyota Electric Vehicles Can Access Tesla Superchargers

Toyota Electric Vehicles Can Access Tesla Superchargers

If you are considering becoming a Toyota electric vehicle owner, right now is the perfect time because of the newest Toyota-Tesla agreement. The agreement states that Toyota and Lexus will start using the North American Charging Standard (NACS) – which means that N Charlotte Toyota electric vehicles will be able to use the 12,000 Tesla supercharging stations for fast and convenient charging. There’s a lot of information to break down, so let’s get started.

Why are Toyota Electric Vehicles Partnering with Tesla?

This is very exciting for N Charlotte Toyota electric vehicle owners because now they will be able to alleviate a lot of their EV range anxiety. Plus, they’ll get to use the superchargers (which are an electric vehicle road trip essential). But, we’re going to get into some of the details of the agreement.

  • Toyota and Lexus plan to start incorporating the NCAS chargers in the 2025 models.

  • Also, these N Charlotte Toyota electric vehicles will have a brand-new three-row, battery-electric Toyota SUV that’s supposed to come out between now and then (it’ll be assembled in Kentucky).

  • Customers who own or lease certain Toyota electric vehicles with the Combined Charging System (CCS) will be offered an adapter to use the NACS charging system in 2025.

  • As of 2024, there are more than 84,000 charging ports in America for Toyota electric vehicles. This includes level 2 and DC fast chargers.

  • This will expand access to 12,000 and more charging stations through the Tesla supercharger network.

How Long Does it Take to Charge an Electric Car?

At the end of the day, it boils down to the question of ‘How long does it take to charge an electric car?’ To start, there are three types of chargers you are available – level one, level two, and level three (known as DC fast chargers). And each of them has a different EV charging time.

  • Level one chargers are the standard 120V chargers (similar to the outlets at your house). Level one chargers can easily be installed at your house to charge your Toyota electric vehicle. The estimated electric vehicle charging time is very long – it might take days for you to get a full charge. Also, this is why this is the type of charger recommended for N Charlotte Toyota plug-in hybrids, or for a super short commute.

  • Level two chargers are much more powerful than the level one charger and are 240V. You can have this N Charlotte Toyota EV charging station at your home, but you’ll need to have it professionally installed by an electrician. If you use this charger, then your EV charging time only takes 4-10 hours to get a full charge. Also, you’ll tend to see a lot of these electric car charging stations around even though it takes a good amount of time.

  • Level three chargers are the best chargers around. However, you’re not able to install these charging stations at home. You’ll have to venture out in public to use this type of charger. The estimated electric vehicle charging time varies, but typically you can at least an 80% charge in 40-50 minutes.

3 Tips for Charging Your Toyota Electric Vehicle

There are a bunch of different questions when it comes to buying an electric vehicle. We’ve already crossed off how long does it take to charge an electric vehicle. So, let’s get into the rest of the nitty-gritty details.

  1. Download some apps. To find the nearest EV charging station, you’re going to need to download some apps like PlugShare, ChargePoint, and more.

  2. Check charging levels. N Charlotte Toyota electric vehicles like the 2023 N Charlotte Toyota bz4X make it super easy to see the charge levels on your dashboard.

  3. Enroll with the Clean Assist program with Toyota. When you charge your electric car, the Toyota app calculates how much electricity you’re using and the net emissions from the charging process. Next, Toyota will generate or buy an equivalent amount of Renewable Energy Certificates. This means that all of your charging activity is matched with zero-carbon electricity.

With the addition of the superchargers being added and these apps – your EV range anxiety will definitely be alleviated.
