Radiator issues got you down? Toyota of N Charlotte can help

While on your morning commute to work, you may notice that your Toyota of N Charlotte vehicle is starting to overheat. While you are diligent in maintaining your vehicle, sometimes it’s easy to forget about your car radiator. This part in your car is important in keeping the mechanics of your vehicle cool. Vehicle overheating is a common happenstance in any vehicle and that’s why our N Charlotte Toyota dealership wants to help you recognize when it’s time to check on your radiator.

Signs of vehicle radiator issues
Just like any other mechanics in your vehicle, this mechanism is subject to maintenance issues as well. Your radiator’s job is to filter the coolant to and from itself, which cools the engine by using a fan. Maintaining the coolant’s temperature between 190 and 210 Fahrenheight is required for ideal car radiator operation. When this doesn’t happen, many issues can arise.

Here are some issues to look out for:

Rust
While you can find rust pretty much anywhere on your vehicle’s body, it’s not uncommon to find rust on your vehicle’s radiator. When the temperatures fluctuate often, the moisture builds up and creates rust. Our N Charlotte Toyota dealership recommends spotting the rust by checking the system’s assembly and color of the coolant. If the coolant is dark, there’s possible rusting involved.

Leaks
Get your radiator checked often. Leaks can occur that will cause your vehicle to lose coolant. If you are beginning to see green fluids or other colored leaks under your N Charlotte Toyota vehicle, it’s more likely than not, an issue with this mechanism.. While it is not safe for your vehicle to experience leaks of any kind, a radiator leak is extremely important to be taken care of.

Mineral Buildup
When your car radiator continues to operate as it should, your vehicle will begin to accumulate mineral buildup which can, in turn, constrict your coolant from flowing. You can help fix this issue by opening up the cap. Allow it to cool and add cooling system cleaner to allow it to flush. If you need help, contact Toyota of N Charlotte for assistance.

Vehicle Overheating
If your vehicle is constantly overheating, this may be a sign that your vehicle radiator is failing. If this problem goes unaddressed, it can cause your vehicle to completely break down, which could then cause your repair to be even more expensive. If you smell a burning scent or the hood of your vehicle is hot for no apparent reason, shut off your vehicle right away and contact Toyota of N Charlotte.
